This Refund & Cancellation Policy applies to all paid subscription plans and financial transactions facilitated through the Rent Right platform. By subscribing to any paid plan or initiating a financial transaction on the Platform, you agree to this Policy.
All paid plans (Solo, Starter, Professional, Elite) include a 14-day free trial. No payment is collected during the trial period. You may cancel at any time during the trial without any charge.
If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your plan will automatically convert to a paid subscription and your saved payment method will be billed for the first billing cycle.
You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings under Settings → Billing → Cancel Plan.
Cancellation takes effect immediately upon your confirmation. Data is retained per our Privacy Policy until the retention period lapses.
Generally, Rent Right does not offer prorated refunds for mid-cycle cancellations. However, exceptions apply as described below.
| Scenario | Refund |
|---|---|
| Free trial — cancelled within 14 days | Full refund (no charge made) |
| Monthly plan — cancelled within 48 hours of first charge | Full refund (one-time, first subscription only) |
| Monthly plan — cancelled after 48 hours | No refund; access until period end |
| Annual plan — cancelled within 7 days of annual renewal | Prorated refund for unused complete months |
| Annual plan — cancelled after 7 days | No refund; access until period end |
| Service downtime > 72 consecutive hours (our fault) | Credit for downtime days added to next cycle |
| Duplicate / erroneous charge by our system | Full refund within 5-7 business days |
| Account terminated for Terms violation | No refund |
These terms are consistent with the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, and Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020. If you believe you are entitled to a refund not covered above, please contact billing@rentright.in.
Security deposits protected by Deposit Shield are not subscription fees. They are the Tenant's funds held on trust by Rent Right's licensed payment partner. The following terms apply:
Rent payments are direct peer-to-peer transfers between Tenants and property owners. Rent Right does not hold or intermediate rent funds (except Deposit Shield). Refund of rent for any reason (overpayment, early vacation) is a matter between owner and Tenant governed by the rent agreement.
In case of a failed UPI transaction that was debited from the Tenant but not credited to the owner, the amount is automatically reversed to the source account within 3–5 business days per NPCI guidelines. Contact your bank if reversal does not occur within 7 days.
Payments to vendors for maintenance services are made directly to vendors. Rent Right does not collect or hold vendor payments on your behalf.
Disputes about vendor service quality must be raised within 48 hours of service completion. Rent Right may, at its discretion, facilitate mediation between you and the vendor. We do not guarantee vendor refunds.
You may downgrade your plan at any time from account settings. The downgrade takes effect at the start of the next billing cycle. No refund is issued for the unused remainder of your current billing period following a downgrade.
Upgrading takes effect immediately. The price difference is charged on a prorated basis for the remaining days in the billing cycle.
Refunds of subscription fees include the GST component. A revised GST invoice (credit note) will be issued for the refunded amount as required under Section 34 of the CGST Act, 2017.
Nothing in this Policy limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. If you are not satisfied with our response to a refund request, you may approach:
